They take over from three of the organisation’s historic pillars, Emmanuel Oudar, Véronique Mary and Emmanuel Maistre, who are leaving ECPM after more than twenty years of activism and action. François Croquette also announced his intention to leave the Board at the same meeting.
Aminata Niakaté, the outgoing president, was unanimously re-elected and will be assisted by Laurent Duarte, the new general secretary, and Marie Doucet, the deputy general secretary, while Leïla Bordie-Randera will act as treasurer.
The AGM was also an opportunity to pay tribute to Antoinette Chahine on the 25th anniversary of her release from prison. Through a poignant testimony, she renewed her profession of faith in the fight against the death penalty throughout the world, and more particularly in her country of origin, Lebanon.
