What does it mean to volunteer with ECPM?
Together Against the Death Penalty (ECPM) has been advocating for the universal abolition of the death penalty since 2000 by conducting advocacy actions with national and international bodies, educational activities with young people, and by bringing together abolitionist forces worldwide. Volunteering at ECPM opens many doors!
- Meeting and working with abolitionist actors: French and international associative partners, former death row prisoners (key witnesses) …
- Attending prestigious events organised by the association (World Day Against the Death Penalty, cultural events…)
- Becoming part of the abolitionist activist community and participating in key moments with other ECPM volunteers (volunteer gatherings, meetings with key witnesses…)
How can I get involved?
Are you available during the week?
Co-facilitation of interventions with young people
In collaboration with educational teams, ECPM conducts awareness sessions for young people aged 14 to 18 in schools and within all structures accommodating young people in the french regions of Île-de-France, Normandy, and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. Volunteers, trained by ECPM with its tools and intervention methods, engage with students on the history of the abolition of the death penalty in France, the current international situation, and abolitionist arguments.
Are you available on weekends?
Participation in public awareness events
Every year, ECPM advocates for the universal abolition of the death penalty during significant events in French civic and activist life (Printemps des Assoces, Pride Parade, Fête de l’Humanité, etc.) to raise awareness among French population about the current international situation and abolitionist arguments. For volunteers, such days provide an opportunity to engage with the public in a friendly atmosphere.
